Dress Code Argument

By: Cassidy

Dress codes should be required. A lot of people would disagree, but this is my opinion. A reason why I think dress codes should be required is that, who would want to come to school inappropriately? Many people would probably want to, but I myself, wouldn’t. Dress codes are here for a reason to protect students from creepy people. A lot of people also do agree with the dress code because some people would feel uncomfortable if they saw others walking around in inappropriate clothes, it would be weird too. I think that if students were able to dress how they like it would be nice, but I still think that the dress code is safer for many. Dress codes are important for many schools but even though some dress codes suck a lot they are there to protect students and make them feel comfortable. These dress codes also may apply to the teachers so students need to realize they aren’t in it alone even though it may suck it many ways. I don’t think it would be a good idea if there weren’t any dress codes since nobody wants to see others dressed in odd ways. Though people have different styles that schools may not accept I still think the dress code is a good thing. If students were to realize the dress code was there to protect them, it wouldn’t be so difficult for others. The things people would wear without dress codes would affect others in many ways, making them uncomfortable, upset, disgusted and other feelings. If dress codes didn’t exist people would be walking around with their parts hanging out. Which nobody wants to see, its gross. All of this is just my opinion and I hope you understand why I feel this way.

History of Art

By Cassidy

Picture, you’re alive in ancient times, struggling to hunt for food. You’re sitting in a cave thinking, suddenly the silhouette of an animal appears on the wall from the crack of light in the cave. You just so happen to have some chalk nearby. What would you do? Would you draw the animal as guaranteed success in hunting, or would you just leave it be?

The Cro-Magnon people were the first ones to discover this form of art. The main reason it was used was simple, promised success in hunting. The was this ritual worked, was by drawing the silhouette of the animal you’d seen in the spec of light flashing against the wall, the Gods would bless you with success in hunting. These prehistoric paintings have been discovered in deep caves by scientists in France. The main thing was that all the paintings resembled an animal of some sort, so they made theories. But what about after the Cro-Magnon people, did they paint too?

During the Egyptian times, they painted too. The Egyptians used their form of art on tombs. These paintings were called ‘Tomb Paintings.’ They were often realistic pieces of art that resembled the faces of the royalty who passed. There were also other forms of art found where the Egyptians buried the tombs. There were many different art forms portrayed on the wall of these Pyramids, they resembled human-like figures with animal heads. They usually had some type of Egyptian writing too. Egyptian paintings are always cool, but did art end after the Egyptian period?

Well, the answer is no. Romans painted too, a lot of their paintings were portrayed on vases or canvases and other places. They often resembled Roman Gods and Royalty at the time. After the Romans time period of art, In the 12th century in Northern Europe, Gothic Italian art became a style. It was discovered by a painting called ‘The Madonna of the Angels’ by Giovanni Cimabue. After the Gothic art was around, Glass painting became strangely popular. During that time period art was considered wealth. Glass paintings have always been around and are still used to this day which is crazy. Interesting right?

Art is beautiful, right? No matter the time period or way it was made. Not even if it was during Prehistoric, Egyptian or Roman times. Art has been around for thousands of years, and I hope it will keep progressing and stay around until the end of time comes.

The Idea Is Better Than The Truth

by Cassidy

I like the idea of Art, the vibrant colours and cool sketches.

But the truth is never the same.

Your pencil smudges, you make colouring mistakes, and there are messy eraser shavings.

I like the idea of playing an Instrument, the calming melodies, beautiful songs and pretty sounds.

The truth is different though…

You have sore hands, play confusing notes, and make very audible mistakes.

I like the idea of playing a sport,

Making friends, going to tournaments and having fun.

But the truth is different.

There is muscle pain, sweating a lot, and getting badly injured.

My Robot Servant

My robot servant

If I had a robot servant, I would make it clean, cook, talk to me, and do laundry. I wouldn’t ask for much from my robot, I still need to do things myself. Although I’d have a robot servant, I’d still care for it. I’d do things like fix it, clean it, care for it and be nice to it. My robot servant would be able to fly and talk to animals. My robot would have different voices, one that sounds robotic, one that sounds human and many more voices. Although making a robot isn’t easy, I’d spend a lot of time making a design, finding the parts, putting it together and programming it. I’d treat my robot servant well and even give it a name like “Stan” or something, any name is fine for my robot. Someday I’d really like to have a robot servant, thanks for reading my blog about my robot servant.

My Christmas Family Tradition

My Christmas Family Tradition

By Cassidy

It’s always been a family tradition that every year on Christmas my family always celebrates Christmas eve at my Grandpas house, the night and few days before we make homemade perogies. We need enough for around 20 people, so we always start early on making the food. This year I get to help my grandpa because I’m old enough to start help with the cooking and the baking. Every Christmas eve all the kids get matching pajamas and we always take family photos. Last year we all got matching elf pajamas and they were very comfortable and warm. Normally at my Grandpas we open presents from family members, this year I got to pick out my Christmas present because I went shopping with my Grandpa, we went to the Rideau Centre and Bayshore mall, it was fun. We’re going back this weekend because we forgot to get some stuff for my brothers and cousins, I hope they’ll all like the presents we picked out for them, although I did all the picking because I had a list of stuff everyone wanted for Christmas. Normally for Christmas eve for dinner with the perogies, we have turkey, potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce/jelly and chicken. For dessert we normally have the homemade Christmas snacks my stepmom makes and normally my grandpa will buy things, its different deserts every year I don’t know what we’re going to have this year. I’ve been helping my grandpa clean and get ready for Christmas and this weekend we’re going to set up his tree and the mini Christmas village he has, when I was younger I always liked to play with the mini figures of the village, I always thought it was so fun to do and I was amazed on how big it was and that it lit up. Another family tradition we have is that we always go to my great Grandmas house for Christmas brunch, we haven’t seen her in a few years due to COVID, but this year we’re visiting her because we haven’t seen her. Thanks for reading my blog about my Christmas family tradition(s).

Where I’m From

Where I’m From

Cassidy

I’m from the plates and bowls, the soapy water and soggy hands. From the shavings and erasing’s all scattered on a graphite covered page.

I am from the pages and letters, the chapters and volumes. To the paying and patience and the holding and horses. From the eggshells and flowers, mittens and milk smeared and dirty, ready to be cleaned.

The wooden base and four strings, strums and sounds of success and failure. I am from the headphones and sound, CDs and albums. From Kim’s golden necklace, stored in a box all nice and cleaned.

A sweet scent of cookies filling the room, the scent lingers before the oven slammed shut. The scent of sauce and the taste of meat, my hands covered in grease, but it was worth the cheese. I’m from the collars to leashes, rain and sun. shoes covered in dirt, mud and fur
